Colorado Concealed Handgun Permit (CHP)
The Concealed Carry Course is designed to educate responsible citizens on the safe and lawful carrying of a concealed handgun for personal protection. This course provides a balanced combination of classroom instruction and hands-on training to build confidence, competence, and a thorough understanding of the responsibilities involved in concealed carry.
Students will learn the fundamentals of firearm safety, the principles of marksmanship, and proper weapon handling both at home and in public. The class also explores critical topics such as situational awareness, conflict avoidance, and the legal considerations surrounding the use of force in self-defense situations.
While requirements for obtaining a Concealed Handgun Permit (CHP) or Concealed Carry Weapon (CCW) license vary by state, the process generally includes:
- Meeting state eligibility requirements, including age and background standards.
- Completing an approved concealed carry training course.
- Demonstrating firearm proficiency through a live-fire qualification.
- Submitting fingerprints, identification, and application paperwork to the appropriate licensing authority.
- Paying the required permit fees and awaiting approval.
By the end of this course, participants will have a solid foundation in the safe handling, storage, and responsible use of a handgun, as well as an understanding of the laws and ethics that govern concealed carry. This training is ideal for those seeking to obtain a permit or simply wishing to become more knowledgeable and prepared as armed citizens.
