Stop the Bleed Month
Each May, STOP THE BLEED® Month raises awareness about the importance of bleeding control training and encourages communities to get involved. A key part of this effort is STOP THE BLEED® Day on May 21, 2026, which brings together schools, workplaces, and organizations for education and hands-on training. This year also introduces the first STOP THE BLEED® Trainathon, a nationwide initiative aimed at training as many people as possible, supported by a new system that helps connect instructors and students.
The campaign matters because severe bleeding can cause death within minutes, often before emergency responders arrive. Built on medical lessons learned in Iraq and Afghanistan, STOP THE BLEED® teaches everyday people how to recognize life-threatening bleeding and take immediate action through direct pressure, wound packing, and tourniquet use.
